Date Palm

The Date palm is a tall palm tree from western Asian and northern Africa. In the United States it is widely cultivated in California for its sweet, edible fruits. the Date palm is a source of sugar and wine.
The Date palm has long, feather shaped leaves and a trunk with pruned stubs of old leaf babes.
Its close relative is the Canary island palm.
